Abstract

The aim of this research is to design and assess the performance of a construction project management information system integrated with social media for the technical coordination of construction projects. A mixed-methodology was used in this research, and the prototype system was pilot-tested for approximately 14 days on two medium-scale construction projects involving 30 participants, including project managers, IT professionals, and site and operational-level workers. The system's performance assessment was conducted using the SUS method. The results show a high usability score (average SUS of 82.1), accompanied by a reduction in communication response time of approximately 40% and a decrease in minor rework incidents by ±18% during the trial period. These results show that the system has an indirect effect on improving the efficiency of time and quality control by speeding up the process of clarifying technology and reducing the incidence of miscommunication in the field. However, the results can only suggest an exploratory, specific approach, as the proposed system was evaluated for a short duration and the scope of the project. Thus, further research is needed to confirm the technology and the sustainability effect of the proposed system.
